FlowTraq Lite
ProQueSys is proud to be a Silver Sponsor of, and actively participating in this year’s FloCon, 2012 Conference – Jan. 9-12 in Austin, TX. Hosted by CERT, FloCon is an open conference that provides a forum for operational network analysts, tool developers, researchers, and other parties interested in the analysis of large volumes of traffic to showcase the next generation of flow-based analysis techniques.
This year ProQueSys will be presenting FlowTraq, a powerful flow analysis tool that offers full-fidelity flow recall (no records are aggregated) and flexible filtering, all accessible via an intuitive GUI, scriptable command-line tools, and a comprehensive API. It is a perfect platform for academic and commercial network analysis. It’s also priced very competitively for academic users to promote and encourage network research using flow analysis. We invite FloCon attendees to give it a try for free at www.flowtraq.com.
The ProQueSys team will be on-hand to take in some interesting sessions, show off the latest release of FlowTraq, and meet with you! To make sure we connect, please contact us to schedule a time to get together.
Let’s connect at FloCon! Tell us when you’d like to get together!
About ProQueSys – FlowTraq
At ProQueSys, we specialize in network security and analysis for complex network environments. Our goal is to substantially improve the insight, visibility, and understanding our customers have into their network infrastructures. ProQueSys was founded in 2004 to provide a commercially-available version of the powerful Process Query System (PQS) correlation technology. These initial ideas were transformed into the powerful software product, FlowTraq. Today, we have a strong focus on network monitoring and organizational risk reduction.
ProQueSys has over 2000 customers on 6 continents ranging from Fortune 500 companies, ISPs and Managed Service Providers, governments, schools and universities. Learn more at www.ProQueSys.com.

LOIC, or “Low Orbit Ion Cannon”is a malicious traffic generation tool named after the space-based super weapon from the Command and Conquer video games. A user can download a LOIC and generate large quantities of web or UDP requests, aimed at a target of choice. LOIC gained some public attention when it was used in several recent high-profile denial-of-service (DDOS) attacks. Continue reading “LOIC: Intrusion Detection vs. FlowTraq Analysis”
We are proud to announce the release of FlowTraq Q3/11 on 10/14/2011. Building on other enhancements delivered in 2011, which included nanosecond precision, support for VLAN IDs, and Autonomous System numbers, we’ve made incremental improvements in a number of areas:
All told, FlowTraq Q3/11 is filled with new features, bug fixes, and stability enhancements. It’s is the best version of FlowTraq yet, and we think you agree.
We are pleased to announce the release of our free ProQueSys Flow Exporter 1.4. Users are encouraged to upgrade their Flow Exporter installations to the newest version.
Improvements include:
ProQueSys Flow Exporter will always be free and available on all common platforms.
With the continual increase in network speeds, the number of packets per second is growing rapidly. Although the industry standard NetFlow format is convenient for traffic monitoring and incident investigations, NetFlow timestamps are limited to millisecond accuracy. When investigating intrusions and compromises, the difference between cause and effect is often much smaller than a millisecond.
ProQueSys FlowTraq now offers nanosecond precision in flow accounting when used in combination with ProQueSys Flow exporter, making it the highest precision flow forensic tool available.
ProQueSys FlowTraq is designed to offer long-term traffic audit capabilities, supporting full fidelity history for compliance monitoring and incident investigation. Accurate traffic records show who connected, when, from where, and how long, allowing network operators and compliance auditors to quickly assess the scope of risks and take appropriate action.
Other new enhancements include a refreshed dashboard and additional workspace templates.
Existing customers may upgrade to the Q2/11 release through our download site. If you would like to evaluate ProQueSys FlowTraq Q2/11, please contact us at 603.727.4477, or email support@proquesys.com

On January 31, 2011 Network Computing featured the Q1/11 update of ProQueSys FlowTraq in their on-line publication: “Chris St. Myers, a senior security engineer for Rackspace Hosting, a San Antonio, Texas, hosting and cloud computing company, has been beta testing the new version and says he was primarily interested in the product’s speed improvements. To be able to search through 96Gbytes an hour and eight months of traffic is really neat.”
