Connect With FlowTraq at FloCon 2012
Dec 16, 2011ProQueSys is proud to be a Silver Sponsor of, and actively participating in this year’s FloCon, 2012 Conference – Jan. 9-12 in Austin, TX. Hosted by CERT, FloCon is an open conference that provides a forum for operational network analysts, tool developers, researchers, and other parties interested in the analysis of large volumes of traffic to showcase the next generation of flow-based analysis techniques.
This year ProQueSys will be presenting FlowTraq, a powerful flow analysis tool that offers full-fidelity flow recall (no records are aggregated) and flexible filtering, all accessible via an intuitive GUI, scriptable command-line tools, and a comprehensive API. A user can download a LOIC and generate large quantities of web or UDP requests, aimed at a target of choice. Enhanced Filtering, Top-N lists, and more in FlowTraq Q3/11
Oct 14, 2011We are proud to announce the release of FlowTraq Q3/11 on 10/14/2011. Building on other enhancements delivered in 2011, which included nanosecond precision, support for VLAN IDs, and Autonomous System numbers, we’ve made incremental improvements in a number of areas:
- Goodbye, top-10 lists; hello, top-N lists! Get up to the top 1000 hosts, host pairs, applications, interfaces, and more. This was our most-requested feature in 2011.
- We made speed improvements to our query processing system so FlowTraq can perform complex queries faster. This was our second most-requested feature in 2011.
- We’ve added a few filtering fields, and added the ability to type a raw query string into the GUI just like you can on the command line:
- The database size configuration is more flexible and informative.
- We improved the look of our printed reports, and made the Alerting and Report scheduling system more robust.
All told, FlowTraq Q3/11 is filled with new features, bug fixes, and stability enhancements. It’s is the best version of FlowTraq yet, and we think you agree.
Free ProQueSys Flow Exporter Update
Jun 29, 2011We are pleased to announce the release of our free ProQueSys Flow Exporter 1.4. Users are encouraged to upgrade their Flow Exporter installations to the newest version.
Improvements include:
- Support for the FreeBSD operating system.
- Support for exporting VLAN IDs when present.
- Nanosecond flow precision when used with ProQueSys FlowTraq.
- Export packet load spreading to minimize packet loss.
- Optimized exporting to reduce NetFlow overhead on your network.
ProQueSys Flow Exporter will always be free and available on all common platforms.

May 02, 2011With the continual increase in network speeds, the number of packets per second is growing rapidly. Although the industry standard NetFlow format is convenient for traffic monitoring and incident investigations, NetFlow timestamps are limited to millisecond accuracy. When investigating intrusions and compromises, the difference between cause and effect is often much smaller than a millisecond.
ProQueSys FlowTraq now offers nanosecond precision in flow accounting when used in combination with ProQueSys Flow exporter, making it the highest precision flow forensic tool available.

Making a Web Interface to FlowTraq Using the Command Line Tools

FlowTraq featured in Network Computing
Feb 24, 2011On January 31, 2011 Network Computing featured the Q1/11 update of ProQueSys FlowTraq in their on-line publication: “Chris St. Myers, a senior security engineer for Rackspace Hosting, a San Antonio, Texas, hosting and cloud computing company, has been beta testing the new version and says he was primarily interested in the product’s speed improvements. To be able to search through 96Gbytes an hour and eight months of traffic is really neat.”
